A Richly Woven Heritage in the History of Aquitaine<\/h2>\n

The history of Ch\u00e2teau Camiac dates back to the end of the Hundred Years’ War, a pivotal period when Aquitaine, now French, saw its estates revived by lords from P\u00e9rigord, Charentes and Poitou. These lands, once under the management of Captain Jean Chatard, have seen the La R\u00e9ole estate evolve, giving rise to today’s Ch\u00e2teau Camiac.<\/p>\n

The ch\u00e2teau we know today was built in 1834 by physician Fran\u00e7ois Chaumet, who, according to legend, financed the construction with treasure discovered in the stables and attributed to the mysterious Knights Templar. With its Renaissance architecture, a forerunner of Viollet-le-Duc’s renovations, the ch\u00e2teau’s clean lines, delicate sculptures and harmonious colors dominate the surrounding landscape of rolling vineyards and golden fields.<\/p>\n
